Arnab K. Paul

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems at BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus, India. My research interests include high performance computing, applied machine learning, cloud computing, Internet of Things, distributed systems, parallel file systems, edge computing, and big data analysis.

Prior to joing BITS Pilani, I was a postdoctoral research associate in the AI, Analytics & Scalable Methods Group at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA. My research focus at ORNL was to find I/O patterns and performance bottlenecks in HPC AI applications and develop a cache to optimize I/O for large-scale deep learning applications.

I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science at Virginia Tech advised by Dr. Ali R. Butt. My Ph.D. was greatly impacted by three summer internships - Argonne National Laboratory in 2017 under the mentorship of Dr. Ian Foster, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2018 under the guidance of Dr. Kathryn Mohror, and Cray Inc. in 2019 where I learned the industry aspects of HPC storage under the guidance of Cory Spitz and Nathan Rutman.

Apart from research, I enjoy playing and watching cricket. I love listening to songs and take active participation in 10k and half marathon runs. I believe in a happy and balanced lifestyle.
